Why On Cue exists

I'm a dad. My daughter is three, and for a while, mornings and bedtimes in our house were a mess.

Getting out the door meant shoes, jacket, teeth, bag, and a lot of me saying "hurry up" to someone who had no idea what "hurry" meant. Bedtime was the same problem in reverse. She couldn't tell when it was actually time for bed, or what had to happen before story time.

We tried everything. Checklists. Charts. Practicing the routine. Little sand timers, which ended up in the bathtub. Chaos still won most days.

The real issue was simple: she can't read a clock. So "ten more minutes" meant nothing to her. I wanted a way for her to see time running out, and to see what still needed to happen before it did.

So I built one. Then I rebuilt it. A lot.

Now our mornings sound different. She'll say, "Let's hurry, we're running out of time. We're going to miss the bus!" She knows how long until story time and what comes first: teeth, pajamas, books. She owns the routine instead of being dragged through it.

We still have chaotic moments. She's three. But getting out the door and getting into bed are so much easier, and honestly, more fun.

I hope On Cue brings a little more calm to your mornings and evenings too.
